Kalshi and Polymarket's combined volume falls 14.5% in August, first monthly decline in a year
Combined Kalshi and Polymarket monthly volume fell 14.5% to $45.33 billion in August as trading cooled from the World Cup-driven summer surge. Kalshi's volume dropped 7.3% to $37.17 billion while Polymarket and Polymarket US fell a steeper 36.7% to $8.16 billion, though both remain well above May's $25.66 billion baseline. It is the first month-over-month pullback in a year and a useful test case for how much of recent volume growth is event-driven versus durable.
