How a coming Supreme Court clash over prediction markets could reshape American betting
A sprawling fight between dozens of states and the Trump-backed prediction market industry has reached the Supreme Court, where a ruling would decide whether states or the federal government police platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket U.S. and could reshape the future of sports betting in America. The dispute crystallized when New Jersey asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday to take up the issue, less than a week after a Ninth Circuit ruling that Kalshi is not immune from Nevada's gambling laws directly conflicted with an earlier Third Circuit decision holding that New Jersey's laws do not apply to it, a split that legal experts say all but guarantees the justices will weigh in.
