Missouri attorney general orders six prediction-market operators to halt sports contracts
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway sent cease-and-desist letters on September 16, 2026 to Kalshi, Polymarket, Crypto.com, Novig, Underdog and Robinhood, giving each 30 days to stop offering sports event contracts to Missouri residents or bring operations into compliance with the state's sports-wagering license requirement. Hanaway's office said it anticipates a federal-preemption defense from the operators and intends to sue absent a settlement, adding Missouri to the growing run of states pursuing enforcement in parallel with the CFTC's own preemption litigation. A Polymarket spokesperson said the company maintains prediction markets are regulated by the CFTC under a federal framework, not a patchwork of state rules.

Tunica-Biloxi Tribe launches first tribal-owned prediction-market app, built on Kalshi
The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana announced September 18, 2026 that its new subsidiary, SaltTrade Derivatives, will operate the first tribal-nation-owned prediction-market app, relying on the CFTC's September 17 no-action letter for passive software providers to avoid registering as an introducing broker while running on Kalshi's trade-matching, clearing and surveillance infrastructure. Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour published an open letter the same day inviting other tribes into similar partnerships, a contrast with the company's active Indian Gaming Regulatory Act litigation against other tribes, including its September 16 Ninth Circuit loss to California's Blue Lake Rancheria and Chicken Ranch Rancheria.
